Terms of service
Last updated: September 10, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Melru Software LLC ("we", "us") covering your use of Spend Enough (the "Service"), including the free and paid versions. By using the Service you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. What the Service is
The Service is an educational financial modelling tool. It is not advice of any kind. The full disclaimer in section 9 is part of these terms.
2. License
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your own household's personal, non-commercial planning. A paid license covers one person and their household, on any device you personally use. You may not resell, sublicense, share your license key publicly, use the Service to provide advice to others for a fee, copy or reverse-engineer the software, scrape the site, or remove any notices. The underlying software, design, and content are owned by Melru Software LLC or its licensors.
3. Your inputs
Anything you enter into the Service stays on your device (see the Privacy Policy). You own it. You are responsible for its accuracy. We have no way to recover it if you clear your browser data.
4. Purchases, pricing, and licenses
Paid features are unlocked by purchasing a license through our payment processor, Lemon Squeezy (planned: Lemon Squeezy), which acts as the merchant of record. Their terms apply to the payment itself. The paid version is a one-time purchase. Prices are shown at checkout and may change; a change does not affect a license already purchased. We may add, change, or remove paid features over time.
5. Refunds
Full refund on request within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. Email support@spendenough.com from the address you purchased with.
6. No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", with all faults, and without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service is error-free, that its calculations are correct, that it will be available at any particular time, or that its results will match your actual experience. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Melru Software LLC and its owners, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of money, savings, income, profits, data, or opportunity, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service or from any decision you make based on it, even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability to you for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or fifty US dollars (US$50). Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, so they may not apply to you in full.
8. Indemnity
If someone brings a claim against us because of how you used the Service or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it.
9. Disclaimer
Educational purpose only. Spend Enough is an educational modelling tool. It is provided to help you explore how different decisions might affect your finances over time. It is not financial, investment, tax, retirement, estate, insurance, or legal advice, and nothing in the tool or on this site should be read as a recommendation to buy, sell, hold, or do anything with any asset or account.
No knowledge of your situation. The tool works only from the numbers you enter and a set of stated assumptions. It does not know your health, your family, your employer benefits, your debts, your full tax picture, your risk tolerance, or anything else it was not told. Two people with identical inputs can have very different real-world outcomes.
Ranges, not predictions. Results are shown as ranges (success counts, percentiles, and shaded bands) generated by running your inputs against historical market sequences and randomized simulations. They describe what happened under a set of assumptions, not what will happen. Past performance does not predict future results. Markets, tax law, inflation, interest rates, and your own life can all behave differently than any model assumes.
Simplifications. The model simplifies many things, including taxes, Social Security benefits, healthcare costs, asset allocation, investment fees, and required minimum distributions. The "Read this first" note, the Assumptions panel, and the FAQ in the app describe the main simplifications. The list is not exhaustive.
No professional relationship. Using the tool does not create an advisory, fiduciary, client, or professional relationship between you and Melru Software LLC. Melru Software LLC is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer, tax preparer, or law firm.
Consult a professional. Before making any decision that depends on these results, including leaving a job, retiring, changing contributions, paying off debt, claiming benefits, or changing investments, consult a qualified financial planner, tax professional, or attorney who can review your specific circumstances.
Your responsibility. You are solely responsible for any decision you make and for verifying any figure the tool produces before relying on it.
10. Acceptable use
Do not use the Service to break the law, to harm others, to give paid advice to third parties, to attack or overload the site, or to circumvent the license check.
11. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms. If we end a paid license for a reason other than your breach within 12 months of purchase, we will refund the purchase price.
12. Changes to the Service or these terms
We can change the Service and these terms. For meaningful changes to the terms we will update the date above and post a notice in the app. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Diego County, California, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing, email us at support@spendenough.com and give us 30 days to try to work it out.
14. Miscellaneous
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stands. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between us about the Service. You may not assign them; we may assign them to a successor of the business.
